The fourth edition of the Swiss Kumite Camp ’04 took place in a small village in the Swiss Alps at 1200 m height. The well-equipped sports center in Disentis was perfectly prepared to host our camp. We were pleased to see lots of new faces, all eager to learn from the instructors: Kancho Henri-Oh (8th dan, USA), Shihan Bob Wright (5th dan, USA), Sensei Peter Steinmann (4th dan, Switzerland) and Sempai Luigi Polimeno (2nd dan, Switzerland).

We enjoyed the varied training sessions, which included stamina training, techniques, moving, sparring, wrestling, bo, nuchaku, theory about cardio training, nice stretching and off course the speeches of Kancho. I am sure that beginners as well as black belts have learned a lot these three days, not only from training, but also from being together with karateka from different countries. Being able to exchange experiences and thoughts, also after training, have made us realize that you never stop learning, not even when you’ve been practicing Kyokushin Karate for 20 years.

This year’s Sayonara Party was one of the highlights of the camp. After the awards, some games and beers, certain people showed hidden talents in dancing, singing and playing the guitar. Even Kancho gave us an impressive performance of James Brown, which we are very grateful for and therefore hope he will join us again next year!

Be there from August 4th until August 7th, 2005. Osu!
